Volume 12 - Number 14

"We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain." 2 Cor. 6:1

We are workers! (Jam. 2:14-26; Phi. 2:12) Notice some things about our work:

We Are to have a Mind to Work.

Neh. 4:6 "So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work."
God Created Us to Work.
Gen. 2:15 "And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it."
Gen. 3:19 "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."
1 The. 4:11 "And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;"

We Are to Work Now.

John 9:4 "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work."
If we fail to do the work at the present opportunities that are here will pass.

We Are to Work with All Our Abilities.

(Mat. 25:14-30)
Rom. 12:6-8 "Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness."
The ASV has:
"And having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith; or ministry, let us give ourselves to our ministry; or he that teacheth, to his teaching; or he that exhorteth, to his exhorting: he that giveth, let him do it with liberality; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness."

We Are to Work Hard.

Ecc. 9:10 "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."
Rom. 12:11 "Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;"
Col. 3:23 "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;"

We Should Work Together.

1 Cor. 3:6 "I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase."
We must have the same mind to work together.
1 Cor. 1:10 "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."
Phi. 2:2 "Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind."

Therefore, let us determine to work together with God.
