The Church at Work

(An outline of a sermon by G.K. Wallace given at Freed Hardeman University back in 1954, the year that I was born. A message that is still fresh and relevant and much needed today. TW)

The Book of Acts presents the church at work.
All that the church is to do is pictured in the Book of Acts.

I. What is The Work of The Church?

It is to preach the gospel to the world. Matt. 28:19-20.
To preach the gospel to the church. Rom. 1:16.
To help the poor, Gal. 6:10.
The spread of the gospel was not so much the work of preachers as to all disciples. Acts 8:4.

II. What Is Our Field of Operation?

Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and uttermost parts of the earth. Acts 2.
Ours is a world religion.
To assume that God is interested only in work at home is to assume that He is lacking in heart and intelligence.

III. What, About The Method and Means To Do The Job?

The church is the method.
The gospel is the power.
Man is the means.

** We may share the way of life by:

Saying it.
Doing it.
Living it.

(Are you sharing the blessings of your faith with family & friends?)

Akwaaba ... Paul & Matilda
August 12, 2001

Renee and I have been working with Paul & Matilda since the early 80’s. During this time we have traveled all over Ghana working to establish and strengthen congregations.

Over the last several years Paul & Matilda have also worked with us on our summer campaigns. On the campaigns they not only help with the teaching and interpretation; but also plan and prepare all of the meals for our campaign group.

Paul is a building inspector for the Tema Development Corporation. Due to his expertise he also oversees most of our building projects and is currently working on the Ashaiman Christian Centre. He also is the anchor for our weekly radio program and will speak to us at the worship hour.

It is an honor to have Paul & Matilda with us today.
