Mothers

What Mothers Do ... A teacher gave her class of second graders a lesson on the magnet and what it does. The next day in a written test, she included this question: "My full name has six letters. The first one is M. I pick up things. What am I?" When the test papers were turned in, the teacher was astonished to find that almost 50 percent of the students answered the question with the word "Mother".

A Motherís Sacrifice ... A teacher asked a boy this question: "Suppose your mother baked a pie and there were seven of you - your parents and five children. What part of the pie would you get?" "A sixth," replied the boy. "Iím afraid you donít know your fractions," said the teacher. "Remember, there are seven of you." "Yes, teacher," said the boy, "but you donít know my mother. Mother would say she didnít want any pie."

My Mother ... The Light of the World! A little boy forgot his lines in a Sunday school presentation. His mother was in the front row to prompt him. She gestured and formed the words silently with her lips, but it did not help. Her sonís memory was blank. Finally, she leaned forward and whispered the cue, "I am the light of the world." The child beamed and with great feeling and a loud clear voice said, "My mother is the light of the world."

Things Children Can Do To Help The Church Grow

[The following article was written by a young man who attends a congregation in Tennessee. Eric is 12 years old. TW]

Children can be Helpful to Others.

Children can Show Respect for Others.

Children can Teach Others.

Children can be Involved in Worship.

Proverbs 20:11- Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it be right.

1 Timothy 4:12 - Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

When children act in a good way, others see that and it may cause someone to think about their own life and the changes they need to make. Someone may begin studying the Bible and become a Christian or become a stronger Christian because of the example a child has shown. In this way we can help the church to grow.

A Small Handprint on the Wall

One day as I was picking
the toys up off the floor,
I noticed a small hand print
on the wall beside the door.

I knew that it was something
that Iíd seen most every day,
but this time when I saw it there,
I wanted it to stay.

Then tears welled up inside my eyes,
I knew it wouldnít last,
for every mother knows
her children grow up way too fast.

Just then I put my chores aside
and held my children tight.
I sang to them sweet lullabies
and rocked into the night.

Sometimes we take for granted,
all those things that seem so small.
Like one of Godís great treasures....
A small hand print on the wall.
